# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It comes together in minutes but tastes like you put real thought into lunch.
  • The contrast between creamy avocado and molten mozzarella is quietly addictive.
  • You can dress it up or down depending on what's in your pantry.
  • It's filling enough to satisfy but light enough that you won't feel sluggish after.
02 -
  • Don't walk away from the broiler, mozzarella can go from perfectly melted to scorched in seconds.
  • Use ripe but not overripe avocado, mushy avocado loses its fresh flavor and won't mash into the right consistency.
  • Season the avocado well before spreading, underseasoned avocado makes the whole tartine taste flat.
03 -
  • Brush the bread lightly with olive oil before toasting for extra richness and a deeper golden color.
  • Use a fork to lightly score the mozzarella slices before broiling so they melt more evenly.
  • If your avocado is slightly underripe, mash it with a tiny pinch of garlic powder to add depth.
